As customary as serving coffee to guests, so is incense burner or mabkhara, which is also a traditional item with at least one or more in various sizes found in all Saudi households. The older antique versions were made of hand-carved gypsum, hand-worked clay and carved wood. The incense is placed on hot coals, which are contained at the top to allow family and honored guests to enjoy floral and oudh incense or bakhour after the coffee is served. This is a newer, more modern version of the same traditional design. It is made with metallic trim and the Saudi Arabia national emblem. The dimensions are approximately 10 inches tall and 4.5 inches at the top.
